The Empty Set interview (appeared in Issue 2)

1. Name and Instrument

2. How did you get the name for the band?

Aaron (lead singer) and I were in 8th grade math together where we learned about the

math term, the empty set, and when Aaron was forming the band the next year, he thought

of that for the name, and the rest is history, or maybe it's just our band name

3. Are you going to be coming out with a CD or a tape any time soon?

hopefully we're gonna record in a month or two, and we'll put out either a tape or 7" or

both

4. How long has the band been together?

we started playing without a bassist in October '97

5. Any Favorite bands?

oh god, impossible question, um alright my favorites...Punk: dead Kennedy’s,

[SUB][HUM][ANS], misfits, minor threat, blue meanies...Ska: the maytals, hepcat, the

skatalites, NYSJE...Swing: the old skool stuff, Blues Jumpers, New Morty Show...love

Rockabilly and jazz too :o)

6. What was your favorite show that you played at?

what shows? haha we've played so few...I guess with the slackers and metro stylee just

cause it was so random to play with them, and both of 'em gave us great compliments

7. Do you play birthday parties??

um, we haven't yet, my friend's actually been trying to put a show together for her b-day

which we'll play, but we'll play just about anything, so sure birthday parties are in

8. Have there been any changes in the line up?

oops! I kinda answered this in question 4, we started without a bassist, then we had a girl

named Emily on bass, but as soon as she saw we were trying to do more than just practice

in a basement forever, she quit...then we spent a while searching and trying random

people, finally we got Kurt who's still around, sometimes my bro plays shows with us

though cause Kurt’s busy BABYSITTING, hehe

I’ve never been interviewed for the band before, haha, I’m glad people like us, keep

coming to shows
